What is Manglik Dosha?
Manglik Dosha forms when Mars occupies the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house. Mars is the planet of heat, drive and conflict, and in these houses it is traditionally held to strain married life. The reading is taken from three reference points - the Lagna, the Moon and Venus - which is why so many charts come out as partially Manglik rather than a flat yes or no.
When does the dosha cancel?
Classical texts list several cancellations. Mars in Aries, Scorpio or Capricorn is strong rather than harmful. Aquarius and Leo lagnas are exempt. Jupiter aspecting or joining Mars softens it considerably. And when both partners carry the dosha, it is traditionally considered cancelled.
